Dating Asian Women

(NOTE FROM THE ADMIN, here’s a guy I really envy…LOL. Best of luck to him.)

Here’s my story. It’s probably not as complicated as some of you, but I thought I’d share it anyway.

When I was in college I did a year abroad in Austrailia. While I was there I was partnered with a girl from Thailand in lab who was also studying abroad. As luck would have it, she was there with a whole group of students from Thailand. I wasn’t there that long, I only did a semester, but I was there long enough to know a good thing when I saw it.

So I got my degree, and got my masters in education right way, and then did a phd.

My goal is to teach at a univerisity in Thailand and I’ve got a few positions lined up. I feel lucky having been exposed to some fine friends early in life.

From reading this site it seems like most guys move on to Asian women after having gotten their fair share of drama through the years. Either way, I guess we all arrived at the same conclusion.

I had never thought about dating Asian women, I can tell you that.

But then I got sent overseas for my job. I was 48, never married and no kids. I got sent to Malaysia, and I can tell you, if I never thought about dating Asian women before, that changed in a hurry. Wow!

I became intrigued with the whole way of life, it was new to me, interesting and exciting. I found the women beautiful and exotic. I found myself wishing I had know about this years before, thinking I had been sold a bill of goods. I met an office woman from Kuala Lumpur, the second I saw her, I knew she was the one. I had only hoped she was single.

She was, and against everyone’s advice here in the states, because they thought it was corny, I sent her flowers. She was ok with it and we wound up meeting for coffee. I had the strangest feeling that day drinking the very sweet Malaysian pulled coffee and looking into her gorgeous eyes. I thought, no one back home would believe this beautiful woman is with me. But, I didn’t care.

From the moment I got to Malaysia, I began to try to figure out how I could parlay it into a full time gig. But that was just not to be. I was there for six weeks, and then I was on my way home. From the moment I got home I tried to figure out how to get back. I knew I’d get back, I just didn’t know when.

When I left I kept up the long distance romance with her. It went smooth. Thanks to Skype it was no expense at all. The next time I went was for a three week vacation. It’s hard to go there for any time less than 3 weeks due to the time difference if you’re form the USA. I remember my boss looking at me when I told him 3 weeks. He almost told me no, but that wouldn’t have mattered, I was on my way.

For that three weeks I was completely rejuvenated. I LOVED it! That trip made up my mind to start looking serioiusly into relocating. Of course the trip went by very, very fast…and I’m back doing the Skype thing.

Currenlty I’m looking into a business opportunity that involves me spending nearly all my time in South Asia.

When I first got divorced I said like so many men, that’s it I’ll never get married again, and I meant it too. Divorce can make you very bitter. I think everyone has their faults, but it my marriage nothing was ever enough. It seemed like my ex-wife was just never happy.

She wanted to get married right away, so we did. She wanted kids immediately, so we had kids right away. She wanted a new house, so I slaved for it and we got one. But soon, that house just wasn’t good enough and we had to have a bigger one. Nothing was ever good enough. It’s a very toxic situation to live in.

So after the divorce, I started dating a little. I was in my mid forties, and I have to be honest, I just was not interested in going through what I had just gone through. The warning signs were there in so many of the western women I dated, so I just backed out of the dating scene. What was available to me in my mid-forties was not really appealing to me. Sounds mean to say, but it is the truth.

But then I started thinking about Asian women. I had always been attracted to them, so I decided to look into it.

I started out online and wound up meeting a few of the women. I dated a few that had grown up in the States and others who were in the States either working or going to school. I really seemed to click with those from another country, I found them very interesting and playful. It was amazing, it was like I was a kid again.

So one thing led to another and I wound up dating exclusively this woman from Vietnam. She was thirteen years younger than me, and she looked younger than that. I had the time of my life. I did things I never thought I’d do, been to South Asia several times. I married her, and for the first time in my life became happily married.

It’s hard to explain, but if I had to sum up what really makes the relationship work, I play the man role and she plays the woman role. What a concept!
